OLESYA SHCHUKINA

Olesya Shchukina is a Franco-Russian illustrator and film director who lives and works in Paris. She graduated from La Poudrière, an animation film school, in 2012, and has been working in children's illustration and making animated short films since.

Her short films "Le vélo de l'éléphant" (2014) and "La luge" (2016) have won awards at several international festivals and have been released in cinemas in France. Her animated documentary 'Lada, Ivan's sister' (2021) won second prize in the audience at DOK Leipzig in 2022. Olesya worked on Claude Barras' feature film Ma vie de Courgette (2016). She has illustrated book covers and posters, and created packaging and textile designs.

As an illustrator, she has worked for Maison Georges, Facebook, Google and Milan Presse. In her work, she tries to blend her knowledge of illustration and animation. She loves geometric shapes, cut-out paper, bright colours and everyday stories, all of which can be found in her illustrations, which are full of humour and poetry. She has been teaching illustration at Lisaa since 2020. When she's not drawing, she's cycling with her two little dogs in the basket.
