MARIE GUILLARD

Born in Bordeaux in 1989, Marie’s artistic journey started with her graphic design studies in Paris and carried on in Strasburg where she studied Decorative Arts.
In her work, Marie distorts perspectives and proportions, emphasising the presence of faults in our visual reality. An extremely large foot may be placed in the foreground, a car’s windscreen might be missing, reminding the viewer that realism is not the artist’s goal. The scenes she creates, which are embellished by a dreamy quality, the narrative elements that are poetically powerful and the way the images are unusually framed form a timeless and sensual atmosphere, catching and trapping our attention. Marie’s art is a contemplative pause in time.
