MAÏTE GRANDJOUAN

Born in 1990 in Paris, Maïté Grandjouan is a comics author and illustrator. After her studies at HEAR in Strasburg she started working in audiovisual and press media.
In 2015, she collaborated with Nicolas Hu on the making of the French band Feu! Chatterton’s music video for their song Fou à lier. Her comic book Fantasma, published in 2016, was selected for the Artemisia Prize in 2017.
As a graphic novelist, her work - which stands as the missing link between art mediums - brings together elements from cinema and painting. Maïté’s colourful and enigmatic scenes that illustrate narratives that she has written as a starting point for her pictorial creations. Her visual style sits between Edward Hopper’s realism, pop art and the romanticism of artists like the German painter Caspar David Friedrich.
