Janik Coat was born in Rennes in 1972 and grew up in northern Finistère.
After studying at the Beaux-arts de Nantes, Janik Coat worked as a graphic designer in Paris then turned to illustration in 2005 and published his first book. Popov and Samothrace published by MeMo. She has since pursued a career as an independent author-illustrator and collaborates with several publishing houses (Helium, Albin Michel, Casterman, Grasset, Abrams books, MeMo, Les Fourmis rouges...). She won several prizes in France and abroad and her works were translated in many countries.
Her drawings and paintings are the subject of a few exhibitions and she travels willingly to meet children and book and childhood professionals, in France and abroad.
