A. LEBLANC LAROCHE

A graduate of the Parisian Art schools École Boulle and École Duperré, Alice Leblanc Laroche has worked as an illustrator and textile designer since 2002. Her screen printing studio, which she started three years ago, is located just north of Paris in Pantin, a town that boasts a bustling network of craftsmen and artists. Alice does most of her screen printing using the traditional « flat-frame » technique. She may be working on paper or fabric, but her intent in either case is to see a graphic story emerge from unlikely associations of images and words, conjuring up old educational prints with a funny twist. In Alice's view, illustration must be suggestive, pattern must be meaningful. Her inspiration is diverse and brings together the traditional and the contemporary, roaming from Aubrey Beardsley to Japanese katagami through Breton etchings and popular almanacs.
